Firmin, Peter (born 1928)
Studied at the Central School of Art in the 1950s, working in studios creating stained glass and then advertising design. Later he teamed up with television producer and animator Oliver Postgate creating a number of children’s television programmes, including Ivor the Engine, The Clangers and Bagpuss. Firmin made all the sets, puppets, drawings, backgrounds and cut outs for the animated series. He has since developed a successful career in printmaking.
