More information

This is an original etching by Munch for the first edition of Die Kunst des radierens (the art of etching) by Hermann Struck. The etching dates from 1908 and shortly after creating it Munch suffered a devastating mental collapse. The perspective in this work echoes The Scream and the etchings spare and haunted quality is reminiscent of Van Gogh's last works.
